When looking to make the purchase, you have to keep several things in mind. Thankfully, we’ve run through everything you need to know below. if you want to find out which welders are best worth your time, read ahead.

1. ROSSI 220A MIG Welder

rossi welder

The Welder is compact. Don’t let this fool you as it packs a punch. It’s a 220 AMP device.

It comes with Semi-Zener iGBT inverter technology. This is exactly what you want, as you’ll always get a clean and easy weld.

The device is a breeze to carry around. It’s only 14 KGs, so you can take it wherever you want. This is especially great since its dimensions are only 20 × 44 × 38 cms.

It’s pocket dynamite. It can weld rods that are 0.6 – 1.0 mms thick.  What kind of materials can it weld? According to ROSSI, the device can work on stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and alloys. The spools must be 5 kg, just so you know.

You’re probably wondering what its current range is. It can provide jolts between 20- 220 AMPs.

The product is IP21 rated as well. This makes its use more convenient as you don’t have to worry about condensation and splash-back. Of course, it has protection from overloading and overheating as well.

Its MIG gun and wire are hand wired onto the welder for easier control. What’s more, it has precise controls, making it easier to use.

If you’ve ever worked with ROSSI welders before, you’d know that they’re the industry standard. The ROSSI 220 MIG welder is no different. We found no issues with the product and you won’t either.

Of course, it delivers an arc control too. If the arc length is not enough, the welder automatically increases it.

If you’re worried about shock transfer, the 220 MIG’s got your back. It comes in a special coat that prevents it.

Although it comes with great features, it isn’t the most expensive product on our list. Its brother in our number 2 spot takes this crown.

2. ROSSI 280Amp Welder MIG ARC MAG

Although the ROSSI in our number 1 spot was ultra-portable, our second contender outdoes it. The device is only 11 kgs. It’s not as small, though. It stretches 47 × 22 × 35 cms across.

Unlike its brother, it comes with more horsepower. The welder’s a 280 AMP device. What is its current range? You’ll be welding metals with its 50-280 AMP range.

It can run 0.6 -1.0 mm thick rods. It takes up to 5 KG spools. You can also fine tune the wire speed with its on-the-fly wire feed tuning capabilities.

We’re glad to see Semi-Zerner inverter technology used. This lets a continuous, smooth current run on your rod. This limits splash-back considerably.

Speaking of protection, there’s overloading and overheating protection as well. The welder is C-tick approved, of course.

The welder comes with an easy-to-read digital display. It’s bright and pretty large. What’s great is that it’s a dual display – this is the cherry on top.

It comes with one of the most stable arc controls on our list. This lets it work on all types of materials.

Whenever you want, you can switch between gas and gasless operation. Who wouldn’t want that?

Don’t forget that it’s a ROSSI product. The machine lives up to the company’s name. The availability of an extensive warranty makes things even better.

As mentioned, it’s pretty expensive.

3. DYNAMIC Power 130Amp MIG Gasless Welder

Like the rest, the DYNAMIC Power welder is C-Tick certified. This means electromagnetic radiation is something you never have to worry about. Not only is it C-Tick certified, but the machine has also passed all sorts of safety measures. This includes EMC, CE, and the Safety Australian Standard.

Like its brother, the DYNAMIC one comes with overload protection. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have much protecting it from an over current.

You can feed it 1 kg spools, which isn’t as good as 5 kgs. Luckily for us, the brand has made public the exact dimensions of the spools its welder can work on. They must be 100 x 17 mms across.

As its name suggests, it’s not the most powerful device. It can produce 130 AMPs of power, being left in the dust when compared to the ROSSIs in the number 1 and 2 spots. We’re not told its current range.

Back-to-back, we met 2-in-1 devices. The welders in our 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions were gas and gasless. The DYNAMIC Power 130 is where the trend ends. It only uses gas to weld rods.  Its wire isn’t included. Before you get upset, know that this is normal. Many of the other welders on our list don’t come with wires as well.

We have to say, the device is easy to use. We’d think it’ll be great for beginners. There are 4 current controls for you to play with. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a digital display. This would’ve made using it extra easy.

Its arc control is pretty smooth. It uses stable DC currents to weld rods as well. This lets you get a clean end product. It also limits splash-back, which is always appreciated.

4. ROSSI 130Amp MIG Gas Gasless Welder

The 130 AMP MIG Welder has a current range of 30-130 AMPs. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with as much horsepower as the 2 welders above.

It’s convenient as it’s a 2-in-1 device. It comes with MIG and MAG capabilities, letting you weld with gas and without it.

It certainly delivers. You’ll be amazed by its arc control. It’s super stable, allowing for the smooth welding. Its arc control gives its brother above a run for its money.

You get on-the-fly wire feed fine tuning as well. We met this in the ROSSI above as well.

So far so good, but we’re disappointed that it doesn’t come with a digital display. This would’ve made its use even easier.

The fact that the welder isn’t light is a problem. It’s one of the heaviest machines on our list. It’s a whopping 15 kgs.

Not only is it heavier, it’s larger too. The ROSSI 130 AMP is one of the larger welding machines we’ve reviewed. How do you feel about a 36 × 20 × 36 cm device?

When using the welder, you won’t be worrying about your safety. There are several safety mechanisms in place. The ROSSI 130 comes with overheating, overcurrent, overload protection. Like all ROSSI devices, it’s EMC certified. This means you’re protected from unwanted electromagnetic radiation. For added protection, know that the 130 is C-tick certified too.

5. Certa 195A MIG/MAG Gas/Gasless Inverter Welder

Like the 2 ROSSI welders above, the Certa is a 2-in-1 machine. It comes with gas as well as gasless welding.

It has quite a bit of horsepower to it. After all, it’s a 195 AMP device. You’re probably wondering what its current range is. You’re getting a welder that can provide 70 – 195 AMP jolts.

The Certa is pretty hefty. It might not be the easiest to use at home as it’s a whopping 31 kg. The fact that it’s so big doesn’t help either. You’re purchasing a 54 x 28 x 40 cm machine.

You can weld quite a bit of steel with it. The Certa accepts 5 kg of spools. The spools can be up to 1 mm thick.

You may be wondering if it’s safe to use. Of course, it is, it wouldn’t have made our list otherwise. The device comes with overheating, overcurrent, and overloading protection.

We love that it comes with anti-stick capabilities. When your electrode begins to stick to your machine, the Certa will stop the current so that the electrode gets detached. It has anti-stick capabilities for 3 different materials. These are steel, copper, and iron.

You’re promised a clean, smooth welding job. The machine uses a shelf shielding gas to protect your rod from impurities in the air. The gas is inert for MIG but active for MAG.

Conclusion

Without a doubt, the ROSSI 220 MIG welder is the best. For starters it has:

  • Considerable horsepower
  • Great portability
  • Very competitive features

Although in the number 1 spot, it isn’t the most expensive product on our list.

ROSSI dominated our review. They snagged the most spots for good reason, they’re a leading name in the industry. If you’re thinking of purchasing 1 of the 5, definitely give their welders some attention.
