Java Mapping Specification
The Service Availability Forum™ Java Mapping enhanced specification
provides a mapping of the Application Interface Specification (AIS) services
to the Java language. Java applications will be able to leverage these
services to support High Availability (HA) for all applications, including
Operation Administration and Maintenance (OAM) applications.
New: Release 5.1 - June 2008
The enhanced specification release defines a Java language binding that
provides access to high availability middleware implementations compliant
with the SA Forum's AIS. The AIS standardizes the interface between SA
Forum-compliant HA middleware and service applications. This first release of
the Java APIs will extend the usage of AIS to this broader community.
Major highlights and functionality of Release 5.1:
- Hi Availability Access - This release describes the new Java
mapping that provides access to SA Forum's high availability functions for
Java Standard Editions and more appropriate mappings for the Enterprise
Edition.
- Integration and Support - The intention of the SA Forum and Java
community initiatives is to ensure there will be a common and complete,
integrated and harmonized support and mapping of Java and C in the same high
availability clusters.
- Supported Applications - The Java APIs supported in the release
include the Availability Management Framework (AMF), the Cluster Membership
Service (CLM) and the Notification Service (NTF).
- The Future - Future mapping specifications will enhance current
functionality and will generally be available concurrent with, or shortly
following, major specification updates to help in highly active industry
areas including social and community networking initiatives that may not be
completely developed in Java.
Java Mapping Specification Benefits
