Augmentix Products

Currently, Augmentix has three products that implement the HPI specification. These include two server platforms and a server management add-in card.

A+860 -
Augmentix re-engineers Dell®’s award winning servers for customers that demand enhanced durability and heightened server management in rack dense and transit case applications.

The Augmentix A+860 1U Server is a cost-effective solution that delivers the performance, availability, manageability and serviceability required for space-conscious, mission-critical applications.

The A+860 server is built for optimal performance in the most challenging environments. Maximum protection begins on the outside with a corrosion resistant industrial strength housing including stiffener plates and support bars. The A+ Diamond Thermal Management, Shock and Vibration Protection and Airborne Contaminants Filtration Systems support reliable and continuous operation in extreme operating conditions. The A+860 is independently tested (select MIL-STD-810F) and designed to (MIL-STD-901D, MIL-STD-167, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1474) military standards further validating the reliable performance of Augmentix A+860 in mission-critical applications under demanding conditions.

Optional in each A+860, the patent pending Augmentix Server Availability Management Processor (A+SAMP) is a self contained, embedded, independent, ‘mini computer’ that maximizes uptime for mission-critical applications. The intelligent A+SAMP autonomously monitors and can be programmed to ‘self heal’ many common server and unique application faults. The A+SAMP also supports extensive, highly secure, IP-based reporting and remote access to monitor and control the server and to facilitate recovery activities, supporting the Service Availability Forum HPI interface, as well as SNMP, secure Command Line and secure Web management interfaces. The result is a more efficient server management system with less IT operator intervention and potentially measurable cost savings over the life of the program.

A+1950 -
Augmentix re-engineers Dell®’s award winning servers for customers that demand enhanced durability and heightened server management in rack dense and transit case applications.

The Augmentix A+1950 Server Solution delivers maximum application uptime, advanced performance, superior durability and intelligent server management required for mission-critical environments.

Maximum protection begins on the outside with a corrosion resistant industrial strength steel housing including stiffener plates and support bars. The A+ Diamond Thermal Management, Shock and Vibration Protection and Airborne Contaminants Filtration Systems support reliable and continuous operation in extreme operating conditions.  As servers continue to address more complex applications, application uptime or availability is paramount. Exceptional levels of availability are achieved with built in redundancies. The A+1950 features AC hot-plug redundant power supplies, user accessible (UA) hot-plug redundant cooling (fans), up to four UA SAS hot-plug hard drives and single channel RAID (ROMB with battery backed up cache) for data redundancy and high performance.

Embedded in each server, the patent pending Augmentix Server Availability Management Processor (A+SAMP) is a self contained, independent, ‘mini computer’ that maximizes uptime for mission-critical applications.

A+SAMP -
Ideal for remotely located servers, the A+SAMP consists of a patent pending independent single board computer and software suite that monitors and controls a server without assistance from the host processor. It provides extensive availability management and remote management services without requiring the server's operating system to be booted or operational, enabling independent corrective action to minimize application outages.

The A+SAMP's fault detection includes both hardware and software failure detection. With software statistically being the root cause of the vast majority of system outages, A+SAMP's ability to detect software faults and take corrective action significantly improves overall application availability.

While the A+SAMP includes unprecedented flexibility in interfacing with server platforms, it also includes a consistent, open-standards based interface to user applications or high availability middleware, based on the Service Availability Forum’s Hardware Platform Interface (HPI) specifications.  The A+HPI software includes a distributed API so management of an entire multi-node system can be accomplished from any one node or multiple nodes in the system. In addition to the native HPI application program interface, the A+SAMP provides three additional interfaces to all platform management data and control capabilities. These allow non-HPI compatible applications or technicians to have the same management control that is available via the distributed HPI interface:

  • SNMP v3 - using the standard SA Forum HPI MIB, SNMP-based management applications have full, secured access to management data and functions.
  • Embedded web server - using SSL and secure http, a user-friendly interface is accessible via standard web browsers.
  • Secure shell - using SSH, a full Linux shell is available for scripting queries and actions through a set of HPI Command Line Interface (CLI) programs.
