The following elected officers are spearheading the SA Forum’s efforts in 2009.
Asif Naseem, President Dr. Asif Naseem is president and chief operating officer of GoAhead Software, Inc. He has more than 20 years of experience in the computer and communications industry, having established and run successful businesses within large corporations such as AT&T, NCR, and Motorola as well as startups such as Iospan Wireless, Inc. Asif is a frequent speaker at industry and academia events and publishes regularly on computer and communication related topics in various magazines and journals. He has an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Michigan State University.
Peter Heffernan, Secretary/Treasurer Peter Heffernan is Technology Director of Netra Systems and Networking (NSN), Sun Microsystems, responsible for product strategy and architectural definition. Peter has a total of 23 years in the server and communications industries, 13 of which he has spent at Sun Microsystems in a variety of engineering, architectural and business director positions. He initially developed the world’s first NEBS certified family of servers establishing Sun Microsystems in the telecom industry. Peter then moved on to develop Sun’s volume server product line ranging from the world’s first thin server (1U) line of products to the larger 1280/90 12 processor systems. Peter is a board member of the SA Forum and OpenSAF Foundation, as well as a member of SCOPE Alliance.
Ulrich Kleber, Technical Chair Ulrich Kleber is a senior specialist in the Research,Technology and Platforms group of Nokia Siemens Networks. He has more than 20 years of experience in the communications industry, especially in the area of software architecture for operating systems, system management and operation and maintenance. His work now concentrates on standardization and strategies for high availability platforms.
John Fryer, Marketing Chair
John Fryer is the Director of Advanced Technology Marketing for the Embedded Computing division of Emerson Network Power. John is responsible for determining market trends, future customer requirements and driving industry software initiatives around high availability. He has a strong technical background with more than 25 years of experience in the communications industry in a variety of marketing and engineering positions. John holds a B.Sc. with Honors from the University of Nottingham, England.
Alan Meyer, Compliance Governing Board Chair Dr. Alan Meyer is the director of Telecom Platform Software at HP. In addition to representing HP at the SA Forum, Alan has been involved in a breadth of industry forums including OpenSAF, where he is a founding member and has served as president, Linux Foundation and SCOPE Alliance. Alan has been a leader in HP's Open Source and Linux organizations for 10+ years, with an emphasis on the telecom vertical market. Active with technologies from the Linux kernel up through platform middleware, Alan has focused on the demanding customer requirements of the telecom market with open and standards-based software. Alan holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Washington State University.
